Job Summary

The Strategy and Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing logistics operations, including freight forwarding, trucking, and cold chain business. The Strategy and Operations Manager will ensure operational excellence, profitability, safety and compliance, and high service levels while supporting the company’s strategic growth.


Responsibilities

1. Strategy and Operations Leadership

  • Lead all operational functions: freight forwarding, trucking, fleet management, and cold chain transportation.
  • Develop recommended strategy to implement and monitor improvement programs in cost reduction, revenue growth, quality improvement, safety and best practices.
  • Ensure on-time, safe, and cost-efficient movement of cargo.
  • Drive operational excellence through data-driven decisions, innovation, and continuous improvement.

2. Financial and Cost Management

  • Drive cost optimization in freight, manpower, maintenance, and operating expenses.
  • Improve asset utilization (trucks, containers, and equipment).
  • Work with Finance on budgeting, margin improvement, and profitability analysis.

3. Customer Service and Performance Excellence

  • Maintain high service levels and SLA compliance for key accounts.
  • Implement KPIs to drive operational efficiency, reduce cost, and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Lead continuous improvement and process standardization initiatives.

4. People and Organizational Development

  • Build a strong performance culture and provide leadership to operations management teams through coaching, mentoring, talent selection, and professional development within company guidelines.
  • Promote safety culture and operational discipline.

5. Compliance and Risk Management

  • Establish strong safety, security, and risk management systems.
  • Oversee insurance, claims, and incident management.

6. Strategic Growth Support

  • Support network expansion (new carrier partners, depots, cold chain facilities).
  • Evaluate partnerships, subcontractors, and business opportunities.
  • Participate in commercial initiatives, customer solution design, and major contract negotiations.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics/Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering or related field.
    • Minimum 3 to 4 years managing a supply chain and logistics operations required.
    • Experience in cold chain logistics preferred.
    • Experience in developing and executing strategy, driving revenue growth, retaining customers, and managing profitability.
    • Ability to develop short and long-range planning and effectively communicate information to diverse work groups required.
    • Demonstrated ability in stakeholder management, critical thinking, and strategic decision making.
